Jerri arises early the next morning to make sure she gets the bathroom first, as she has to be to work at 9:00.
Dayle waits patiently for her turn, and once she has showered and dressed she heads downtown to pay a visit to TEK Realty while the others sleep.
"So what can I help you with, Dayle?"
"I'm looking for a small storefront for the dog grooming and boarding business I'm hoping to open."
"Do you know of anything suitable that might be available?"
Nikki thinks for a moment.
"I think I do!"
Nikki rises from her chair, crosses to a file cabinet on the side wall of her office, and returns with several file folders. She moves some things aside and puts them on the corner of her desk.
"The hotel here in TEKville sits on a hill, with the front facing a main street. There is a sidewalk along the side that leads to the basement of the hotel, which used to contain another business that recently folded. It's not fancy, but the rent would be reasonable. Do you want to take a look at the space?"
"Oh, yes! Thank you, Nikki! Can we go now?"
Nikki is agreeable, so they set out at once to inspect the possible new home of Dayle's budding business.
By the end of the day Dayle has put two months' rent down on the space and has been out buying supplies for her new business. When she returns to Jerri's apartment late that afternoon, she finds Jenna and Dani still in their sweats, watching an old movie on TV and eating popcorn.
"You haven't even been out? How do you expect to find work sitting here in your PJs! Jerri isn't going to put up with us forfver, you know."
"We'll look tomorrow. We needed to recover from that horrible bus ride. So what's new with 'Dayle's Happy Tails'?" she says, sarcastically.
Dayle lets the sarcasm pass and replies excitedly, "It's going to happen, girls! It's really going to happen! I rented a space, and I've spent the afternoon buying supplies and arranging for delivery."
"Now I just need to advertise. It would sure help if you two would find jobs! You could help by word of mouth."
Jenna gets up off the couch and steps down into the kitchen to hug her friend. "Congratulations, Dayle! You always were the ambitious one. I promise I'll go job hunting tomorrow."
Dani rolls her eyes and reaches for the remote.
