Hours later Jes slowly regains her senses in a hospital bed as a very worried Giselle and Gannon leap out of their chairs at the first sign of life from their friend.
"Jes! Jes, honey, are you OK?"
"I . . . what happened?"
"You fainted . . . passed out . . . whatever you want to call it -- right in the courtroom! That's one way to avoid the press on the way out." Gannon smiles, trying to calm Jes, but his feeble attempt at humor goes over her head.
"But . . . why am I here?"
"They wanted to keep you here until you woke, sweetie. They want to run some tests to make sure there's nothing seriously wrong with you. You gave us quite a scare! You've been out of it for hours."
"I'm very tired. Can I go back to sleep now?"
Giselle and Gannon exchange concerned looks.
"Sure, honey. I'll let the doctors know you were awake."
To be continued . . .
